Class Descriptions

Creative Ballet (3-4 years):

 A fun yet planned out class will be given. The children will stretch, learn basic positions and movement, use small and big movements both with the instructor and creatively, and finish up with Grand Jeté across the floor.

Dress code: Any color leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Ballet skirts are permitted. Hair pulled back in a ponytail, braid, or bun. Must wear ballet shoes. No socks or tights without ballet shoes.

Creative Ballet / Tap (3/4yrs):

The same structure of Creative Ballet for 25 minutes and then 20 minutes of Basic Tap. 

Dress Code: Same as above plus white tap shoes.

Creative Hip Hop (3/4yrs):

An upbeat class that includes warmup, stretching, and basic hip hop movements. The class is both structured and creative. It focuses on coordination and following directions, all while moving to the music they love.

Dress Code: Leggings (boys joggers/sweats), leotard or fitted tee-shirt, and non marking sneakers.

Pre Ballet (4-5 years): 

This class is a step up from Creative ballet. It will consist of more structure, more positions and movements, an organized across the floor, learning of classical ballet music, learning music tempos, and ending in Grand Jeté.

Dress Code: Any color leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Ballet skirts are permitted. Hair pulled back in a ponytail, braid, or bun. Must wear ballet shoes. No socks or tights without ballet shoes.

Pre Ballet /Tap (4/5yrs):

The same structure of Pre Ballet for 25 minutes and then 20 minutes of basic tap.

Dress Code: Same as above plus white tap shoes.

Lil Hip Hop (4/5yrs):

This class is a step up from the creative Hip Hop. More structure will be given. The focus will be on the basic hip hop movements and timing. Some creative movements still apart of class and to the music they all enjoy.

Dress Code: Leggings (boys joggers/sweats), leotard or fitted tee-shirt, and non marking sneakers.

Ballet K / I (5.5 - 7yrs)

This class is for students in Kindergarten and 1st grade. Students in this class will start using the barre for a few ballet warm-up exercises. Class will begin at the barre, then floor stretches, center technique, across the floor, leaps, and one classical free movement song.

Dress Code: Lilac or light purple color ballet leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Ballet skirts are permitted. Hair pulled back in a ponytail, braid, or bun. Must wear ballet shoes. No Socks or tights without ballet shoes.

Ballet/Tap K/I (5.5-7yrs)

This class includes the same structure as Ballet k/I, with basic tap for 20 minutes. A great class to try for those who want both styles.

Dress Code: Same as Ballet K/I, plus black tap shoes.

Hip Hop K / I (5.5 - 7yrs)

Students in this class are in Kindergarten and 1st grade. This class starts with a fun upbeat warm-up, including basic isolations, freestyle and understanding the beat/patterns of music as well as hip hop grooves, movement and timing. Stretching will be included as well as across the floor and little combinations.

Dress Code: Black leggings, jazz pants, or jazz shorts with any color leotard. (boys may wear joggers and tee-shirt). Shoes are Dance sneakers or non marking sneakers. Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or braid.

Musical Theater I (6-8.5yrs)

Students in this class will focus mostly on vocals both individually and in their group. Class starts with vocal warmups and continues with practicing singing notes and songs. Some of class is also geared towards Jazz and theater dance.

Dress Code: Legging, joggers, jazz pants, or biker shorts with any color leotard or fitted teeshirt. Tan Jazz shoes required. Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or braid.

Contemporary I (6-9yrs)

This class is for students who are in 1st and 2nd grade.  Students in this class will learn basic contemporary movement and the coordination of upper body and lower body movements together. Music will be a collection of softer pop music, lyrical, soft rock, and percussion.

Dress Code: Any color leotard with Footless black tights or black leggings. Bare foot or half soles. Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or braid.

Ballet I (6.5-9yrs)

This class is for students who are in 1st and 2nd grade. For 1st graders they should have completed Ballet K/I first, before moving up to Ballet I. This class is all structure. Ballet Barre, center stretches, center technique, and across the floor are given. Formal classical music only. 

Dress Code: Light Blue color Leotard (ballet skirts allowed in light blue color), pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Hair must be in a bun! 

Hip Hop I (6-9yrs)

Students in this class should have completed Hip Hop K/I and are in 1st-3rd grade. This class starts with a fun upbeat warm-up, including isolations and understanding the beat and tempo of music as well as hiphop grooves, movements and freestyle. Stretching will be included as well as across the floor and combinations.
Dress Code: Black footless tights, jazz pants/leggings, or jazz shorts and any color leotard (boys may wear joggers and tee-shirt). Black dance sneakers or non marking sneaker. Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or braid.

Salsa I (6-8 years):

This class is for 1st-3rd grade students new to Salsa "on 2". Students will learn all the basic movements of Salsa "on 2" timing. Center warmup, stretches, isolations, combinations, turns, and across the floor are given. 

Dress Code: Any color leotard and black leggings or Tan footed tights. Boys may wear black joggers and tee-shirt. Proper (Cuban style heel) salsa shoes required in color tan or light brown. Hair pulled back in ponytail or braid.  

Tap I (6-9yrs): 

Students in this class should be in 1st-2nd grade. It is helpful to have completed Tap k before this class. Class will be structured to include all the basic movements of tap, timing, coordination, across the floor, and short combinations. 

Dress Code: Black leggings, or tan footed tights with any color leotard. Boys may wear black joggers and tee-shirt. Black Tap shoes and hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or braid.

Tap I/II (7-9yrs):

Students in this class should have completed tap I and are in 2nd grade-4th grade. This class continues to build on the basic steps of tap and starts to combine steps together and works further on coordination.

Dress Code: Same as Tap I.

Ballet II (8yrs-up):

Students in this class must have completed Ballet Level I and be in 2nd grade and older. If they have not completed Ballet I they will have to complete that level before Ballet II. This class is a continuation and further advancement after Ballet I. Students in this class stay in level II for a minimum of 2 years. It will include more technique and longer barre plus more complex center. 

Dress Code: Navy blue ballet leotard, pink tights, and pink split sole ballet shoes. Navy Blue Ballet skirts are allowed. Hair must be in bun. Must wear ballet shoes. No Socks or tights without ballet shoes. 

Hip Hop II (A) (8-11yrs): 
Students in this class are in 2nd-4th grade and should have completed Hip Hop I. This class builds on the steps and technique of Hip-hop I. It will include combinations, more complex coordination and freestyle.

Dress Code: Black leggings or joggers and any color leotard or fitted tee-shirt. Black dance sneakers or non marking sneakers. Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or braid.

Hip Hop II (B) (8-11yrs):

Students in this class should have completed Hip Hop II (A) and be in 3rd-5th grade. It also includes an understanding of body levels, textures of movement, spacial awareness/formations, intricate beats. This is a more advanced class then Hip Hop II (A) and requires prior experience. 

Dress Code: Same as Hip Hop II (A).

Tap II (8yrs-up):

Students in this class must have 1-2years tap experience and be in 3rd grade and up. This class builds on the technique from Tap I/II. It is more advanced and moves at a faster pass. 

Dress Code: Same As Tap I.

Salsa II (8yrs-up):

Students in this class should have completed Salsa level 1. This class continues the advancement of steps from Salsa I and has quicker timing.

Dress Code: Same as Salsa I.

Contemporary II (7.5-10yrs):

Students in this class are in 2nd grade and older. Prior contemporary experience or ballet experience needed. This class furthers the training from Contemporary I. More complex steps, flexibility, and combinations are given. 

Dress Code: Same as Contemporary I.

Musical Theater II (7-10yrs):

This class is a continuation from Musical Theater I. It will further work on vocals and theater jazz dance at a more advanced level.

Dress Code: Same as Musical Theater I.

Ballet III (11yrs and up):

 This class is by approval of instructor or audition class only. It is for students who have had prior years of ballet experience and have completed at least 2 years of Ballet II and understand all the technique from level II. Students will stay in this level for a minimum of 2-3 years and it is recommended that they take twice a week in ballet in order to advance. This level is not based on grade, but rather the number of years of ballet experience and the ability to understand everything from our lower ballet levels. 

Dress Code: Burgundy color ballet leotard, pink tights, and pink split sole ballet shoes. Burgundy ballet skirts are allowed. Hair must be in bun. Must wear ballet shoes. No Socks or tights without ballet shoes. Prior ballet training required for this level. Must have instructors permission for this class.

Contemporary III (10yrs - up):

Approval is needed for this class and completion of Contemporary II. This class is more advanced than Contemporary II and students should have a minimum of 2-3 years prior contemporary experience. Combinations and steps are intermediate and advanced at this level.

Dress Code: Any color leotard or sports top with leggings, bare feet, hair pulled back in ponytail. 

Musical Theater III (10yrs - up)

This requires the instructor approval. Some musical Theater experience is recommended. This class is a more advanced class than Musical theater II. 

Dress Code: Same as Musical theater I and II.

Hip Hop III (11yrs and up):

This class requires the instructors approval and prior Hip Hop of level II (A) and (B) required. Class focuses on building more complex combinations from Hip Hop II as well as a deeper understanding of body levels, textures of movement, formations, intricate beats and a variety of hiphop styles. It is an intermediate to advanced level. Students are expected to have many years dance experience and are recommended to taking more than just Hip Hop. 

Dress Code: Black leggings or joggers with leotard or fitted tee-shirt (no baggy sweaters or hoodies) . Dance sneakers or non marking sneakers. Hair back a must!

Salsa III and Intermediate Teen Salsa (11yrs-up):

Students need to have 2-3 years prior salsa "on 2" experience to join this class and have completed salsa level II. This class moves fast and is advanced. Faster timing and advanced salsa combinations are given.

Dress Code: Leggings or biker shorts and leotard or fitted tee-shirt is acceptable. No jeans, no skirts, no non dancewear. Salsa Shoes in tan or light brown required. Hair back is a must!

Tap III (10yrs-up):

Prior tap experience of at least 2 or more years required with instructor approval for this class. This is an intermediate/advanced tap class that builds on the movements and technique from Tap level II. 

Dress Code: Black leggings and leotard or fitted tee-shirt with black tap shoes. No jeans, no non dancewear, no hair down.

Ballet IV (11yrs - up):

Instructor Approval required and audition class for this level. Students need to have an extensive amount of ballet experience and have completed all prior levels including at least 3 or more years of ballet III. This class requires students to take twice a week in ballet technique, as well as, twice a week in Pointe. This is an advanced ballet class and many years of prior classical ballet technique is needed. 

Dress Code: Black ballet leotard, pink tights, and pink split sole ballet shoes. Black ballet skirts are allowed. Hair in bun. Must wear ballet shoes. No Socks or tights without ballet shoes. Must have instructors permission for this class.

Pointe (11yrs-up):

Approval from Instructor required. This class is for students who have already been taking Ballet level IV and have the instructor's approval. Advancement to pointe is on an individual basis when the dancers has achieved an advanced level of ballet technique and has the proper strength needed for pointe. Many years of ballet come before advancing to pointe.

Dress Code: Same as Ballet IV and once approved, the proper fitting pointe shoes.

Hip Hop IV (11yrs-up):

Instructor Approval required and 3 plus years of hip hop experience required. This class is an advanced level hip hop. It builds on all the moves and technique learned from the previous levels of hip hop.  

Dress Code: Leggings , joggers, or biker shorts and leotard or fitted tee-shirt. No Jeans, no non active wear, no oversized baggy clothes, no hoodies. Hair back off face. Dance Sneakers or non marking sole sneakers.

Beginner Teen Salsa (12yrs-18yrs):
This is a beginner Salsa "on 2" class. No experience of prior salsa required. Students will learn all the basic moves, plus coordination, and timing of Salsa. The class will advance and build on movements throughout the year. 
Dress Code: Leggings or athletic wear with fitted tee-shirt and proper Salsa / Latin dance Shoes required.

Beginner Ballet and Beginner Teen Ballet

It's never to late to start learning classical ballet. This class is for Beginners and Teens who want to start learning classical ballet. No experience is required. The class is year long and it is recommended to start in September.  The class will build on technique throughout the year.

Dress Code: Black color leotard, black ballet skirt, pink tights, and pink split sole ballet shoes. Hair in a bun.

Adult Ballet - Beginner

This class is beginner Ballet for Adults. No experience required, but the class will build on technique as the year progresses.
This class will focus on all the basics of classical ballet. Starting class at the barre, then basic center, and across the floor steps. The emphasis will be on proper placement and technique.

Dress Code: Leotard, ballet skirt, and tights. Leggings and leotard are acceptable. Pink split sole ballet shoes. Hair should be back.

Adult Salsa: 

This class is a Salsa on 2, Mambo style class. Shines and partner work will be taught. Class will start with isolations, warm-up, basic steps, shines, and then partner work. Students will be taught in a structured format and build on each week.

Woman Dress Code: Dance and proper exercise attire is highly suggested. Recommended salsa shoes for women are; Dance Sneakers, Jazz Shoe, Ladies Ballroom or Latin practice Shoe. Please no outside marking shoes.

Men Dress Code: Dance and proper exercise attire is highly suggested. Jeans are ok for beginner classes. Recommended salsa shoes for men are; Men’s dance shoe, dance sneaker, or smooth bottom shoe. Please No outside marking shoes.
